What Is A Brown Banded Cockroach?

The brown-banded cockroach is very common all around the United States. The brown-banded cockroach eats a wide variety of items, often almost anything organic, including decaying matter. They need less moisture than the German cockroach so they tend to be more broadly distributed in the home, such as in living rooms and bedrooms. They can often be found in homes and apartments, but are less common in restaurants. They tend not to be found in the daytime, since they avoid light. These cockroaches have been known to cause problems in hospitals by emerging at night to feed on bodily fluids, thereby risking cross-infection.

Good sanitation and habitat reduction, along with vacuuming, surveillance, a baiting program, and some sealing of cracks can usually quickly reduce or eliminate a cockroach population.

Brown Banded Cockroach Treatment

Before treatment begins, the technician will thoroughly inspect structure for a source of the infestation. Once that has been determined, your technician will create a customized cockroach treatment plan that will eliminate all live cockroaches. Your technician will also suggest treatment options which provide year-round protection, using the most effective and environmentally-conscious cockroach control solutions.

In order to provide the best service, your home or office will need to be prepared prior to treatment. This includes removing all dishes, cookware and food from cabinets in your kitchen area. The cabinets will also need to be emptied in the bathroom areas. If brown banded cockroaches have been detected, we also recommend vacuuming and cleaning the home prior to treatment.

The initial treatment, which consists of low toxicity, non-repellent chemicals that are undetectable to cockroaches, will be applied to the cracks and crevices around the kitchen and bathroom areas. The treatment covers the affected roaches as they travel and is transferred from cockroach to cockroach, killing the colony just like a virus. In conjunction with low toxicity transferable pesticides, we also utilize gel baits which work similarly to our non-repellent spray. After your initial treatment, our technician will return to inspect your property for remaining signs of cockroach activity, applying bait where it is appropriate. After treatment, we require all treated areas to remain exceptionally clean and uncluttered to ensure total knockdown.
