Pigeons are monogamous and will lay one to two eggs which hatch within eighteen days. Young are fed pigeon milk which is regurgitated food from both males and females. While mating occurs year round, the peak mating seasons are spring and fall.
Humane Pigeon Removal & Abatement
Griffin Pest Management uses a variety of humane exclusion techniques to remove a pigeon population. Our technicians make roosting and nesting areas inhospitable. We also fill in access to voids, sloping resting areas, and preventing landing by using devices will help. We do not recommend using scare balloons, plastic birds, or plastic snakes because they rarely work except for a very short period of time. We also recommend keeping all food and standing water out of reach of pigeons. In commercial settings, do not allow pigeon feeding. A Griffin technician will assess the infestation and recommend a strategy that best fits your needs and budget. Griffin also offers clean up and restoration for damage caused by pigeons and other birds. For the best results, we recommend beginning a bi-monthly or quarterly maintenance program for bird control. We also offer one-time services. For more information about our bird control program, please call today.
Quick Facts About Pigeons
Pigeons prefer grains for food and people will commonly feed pigeons unintentionally by spilling food or it in open trash containers. Pigeons roost in areas above ground and will readily nest in steeples, as well as voids on outside areas of buildings and other protected areas.
Pigeons are dependent on humans to provide them with food, roosting and nesting sites. They are commonly found around agricultural areas as well as warehouses, feed mills, and grain elevators. They are also commonly found in cities around parks, buildings, bridges, and any other structures.
Pigeons are filthy birds, causing disease and damage. Their droppings are known for triggering human slips and falls, as well as accelerating the aging of structures and statues. More seriously, pigeons may carry diseases such as cryptococcosis, toxoplasmosis, salmonella, food poisoning, and more. Also, their droppings may harbor the growth of fungus which causes histoplasmosis. Other pests may live on these birds, including fleas, lice, mites, ticks, and other pests. Pests may also infest nests such as stored product pests.
Homeowners need to make roosting and nesting areas inhospitable. Filling in access to voids, sloping resting areas, and preventing landing by using devices will help. Scare balloons, plastic birds, or plastic snakes rarely work except for a very short period. Keep all food and standing water out of reach of pigeons. In commercial settings, do not pigeon feeding.

Pigeon Control Testimonials
I had a pigeon problem in the attic - they were going in through a badly designed hole in the roof. Even though Andy's company specializes in termites and more conventional rodents, I was his last call of the day (Saturday) and he hung around to give me several ideas and suggestions. You can tell he is an honest guy - ask for him if you want someone trustworthy.

I am more than satisfied with the work Griffin did on my house! We had birds who chipped away at the stucco and made a home inside the exterior wall. They removed the debris, repaired the stucco (& painted it to match), placed wood around the area to ensure the birds won't return & treated the roof so that they had no place to land if they tried to return (as they usually do every year). I wish I had found them sooner & highly recommend them. I wish I had taken a before photo to compare, but the work they did looks crisp & clean.

Very professional with great service. We have pigeons starting to nest on our roof. Gary showed up on time, offered a great solution and got us scheduled. His guy showed up on time and it got done. Work was clean and looks great. I had called at least a half a dozen other vendors for this same work. They either didn't call back, didn't show up, or wanted to charge way too much. Highly recommend these guys.
