Exterminating German Cockroaches In Southern California Since 1994
German Cockroach Control in LA, Orange Co. & San Diego
What Is A German Cockroach?
The German cockroach is the most common cockroach species in houses, apartments, restaurants, hotels, and other institutions throughout the United States.
Good sanitation and habitat reduction, along with vacuuming, surveillance, a baiting program, and some sealing of cracks can usually quickly reduce or eliminate a cockroach population.
German Cockroach Treatment
Before treatment begins, the technician will thoroughly inspect structure for a source of the infestation. Once that has been determined, your technician will create a customized cockroach treatment plan that will eliminate all live cockroaches. Your technician will also suggest treatment options which provide year-round protection, using the most effective and environmentally-conscious cockroach control solutions.
In order to provide the best service, your home or office will need to be prepared prior to treatment. This includes removing all dishes, cookware and food from cabinets in your kitchen area. The cabinets will also need to be emptied in the bathroom areas. If German cockroaches have been detected in other areas of the home, we also recommend vacuuming and cleaning prior to treatment.
The initial treatment, which consists of low toxicity, non-repellent chemicals that are undetectable to cockroaches, will be applied to the cracks and crevices around the kitchen and bathroom areas. The treatment covers the affected roaches as they travel and is transferred from cockroach to cockroach, killing the colony just like a virus. In conjunction with low toxicity transferable pesticides, we also utilize gel baits which work similarly to our non-repellent spray. After your initial treatment, our technician will return to inspect your property for remaining signs of cockroach activity, applying bait where it is appropriate. After treatment, we require all treated areas to remain exceptionally clean and uncluttered to ensure total knockdown.
Both the inside and outside of your home are always under warranty. We guarantee your satisfaction between regular scheduled maintenance services. If at any time you find yourself in need of an additional treatment between regular scheduled services, call us and we will return to re-treat your home.
Quick Facts About German Cockroaches
Adults of both sexes have well-developed wings, but they never fly. Adult females carry the egg capsule protruding from the rear of the abdomen until the eggs are ready to hatch. Nymphs have habits similar to those of adults. They are active mostly at night but hide in dark crevices during the day. If German cockroaches are seen during the day, the population is probably so large that the available cracks are already full, or food and moisture are in such short supply that daytime foraging is necessary. The German cockroach is a general feeder but is particularly attracted to fermented foods and beverage residues.
Infestations are sometimes found in areas not generally suspected of harboring German cockroaches, such as dresser drawers in bedrooms. German cockroaches found scattered through non-food areas of a home or building is usually a sign of a very heavy infestation or of the repellent effects of insecticide applications elsewhere in the facility. Adult males appear to be the most mobile stage, followed by nongravid adult females and large nymphs; gravid females probably rarely leave the harborage.
Besides the nuisance factor, German cockroaches can spread disease and can spread cockroach specific allergens that have been known to cause asthma. Recent medical studies have shown that cockroach allergens cause lots of allergic reactions in inner city children. These allergens build up in deposits of droppings, secretions, cast skins, and dead bodies of roaches.
Keeping the home clean and food debris free and harborage reduction/removal are the first steps to successful German cockroach control. A vacuum cleaner with a HEPA (High Energy Particulate Air) filtration system can be used to remove large amounts of cockroaches in a short period of time. Do not attempt to vacuum this pest without a HEPA filter on the vacuum.
