Exterminating Carpenter Ants In Southern California Since 1994
Carpenter Ant Control in LA, Orange and San Diego Counties
Why Do I Have Carpenter Ants?
The Carpenter ant is most prevalent in the mountainous areas of southern California. Carpenter ants are considered wood destroying organisms by the state of California, and require similar treatments as other wood destroying species of pests, such as termites and carpenter bees. To control Carpenter ants, we use low toxicity, non-repellent chemicals. In comparison to traditional pesticides, non-repellent treatments represent a major leap forward in control. Carpenter ants come in contact with the treatment and spread it throughout the colony, killing the nest where it starts.
Carpenter Ant Inspection
Your pest control service will begin with a licensed technician providing a full inspection of your residence and property to identify the ant infestation. During the inspection, your ant control technician will identify potential problem areas around your home or office. After the source of your problem areas have been identified, your technician will point out other potential ant harborages and steps you can take to reduce future ant infestations. Your technician will create a customized ant treatment plan for year-round protection, using the most effective and environmentally-conscious ant control solutions.
Carpenter Ant Treatments & Pest Control Service
We not only kill and control your current ants, but help prevent any future ant outbreaks. Most ant infestations originate outside, your technician will focus on the perimeter of the home and outlying areas of the yard. In addition to exterior ant treatments, we can also treat the interior of your home to stop ants from entering. Future service treatments will be exterior-only, without requiring you to be home or having to worry about scheduling conflicts. Griffin Pest Management offers Monthly, Bi-Monthly and one time ant services with no contract required.
Both the inside and outside of your home are always under warranty. We guarantee your satisfaction between regular scheduled maintenance services. If at any time you find yourself in need of an additional treatment between regular scheduled services, call us and we will return to re-treat your home.
Quick Facts About Carpenter Ants
Carpenter ants get their name because they excavate wood in order to build their nests. Their excavation results in smooth tunnels inside the wood. Carpenter ants range in size from one-quarter inch for a worker ant to up to three-quarters inch for a queen. All species mainly attack wood that is or has been wet and damaged by mold. Even though these ants first invade wet, decayed wood, they may soon begin building paths through dry, undamaged wood. They usually come into buildings through cracks around doors, windows, or through holes for wires. They will also crawl along overhead wires, shrubs, or tree limbs that touch the building far above the ground.
Carpenter ants build their nests outdoors in various wood sources, including tree stumps, firewood or landscaping. They need a constant water source to survive. They will enter homes through wet, damaged wood.
Carpenter ants damage wood through their nest building. If they gain entry to a structure, they pose a property threat.
Because carpenter ants require a water source, eliminate sources of moisture or standing water. Keep tree branches and other plants cut back from the house. Sometimes pests use these branches to get into your home. Make sure that there are no cracks or little openings around the bottom of your house. Sometimes pests use these to get into your home. Make sure that firewood and building materials are not stored next to your home. Pests like to build nests in stacks of wood.

When we first moved to San Diego from Seattle 10 years ago our house was full of ants. We contracted with Griffin immediately and have never had any pest issues since. Their employees are reliable and do a good job, HIGHLY recommend their very affordable regular service.

The service technician from Griffin was both friendly and knowledgeable and the office staff were able to work with my rather rushed need for scheduling. I was so pleased with their work when they came and tented my house for termites that, just recently when the weather brought ants out across my whole neighborhood, I called them back for any treatment and have recommended them to several friends and neighbors.
