Exterminating Argentine Ants In Southern California Since 1994
Ant Control in LA, Orange and San Diego Counties
Why Do I Have Argentine Ants?
Argentine ants or "Black ants" can be found throughout southern California. This non-native species of ant forms large colonies which do not compete with one another, allowing them to take over your property in large numbers. Black ants enter homes in southern California in search of shelter from weather or to find new sources of food or water. In the hot summer months when ant infestations are the most common, Argentine ants typically enter the home in search of water sources. This is the reason ants are commonly found in dishwashers, sinks, showers and around toilets. After finding water, the ants spread out and search for sources of food for the colony. Leaving food containers open and out can lead to a black ant infestation. Make sure left overs are thrown away and excess food is picked up off the floor and counters. It is important to stop ants before they establish trails inside your home because they are much more difficult to control once they have established themselves.
Argentine Ant Inspection
Your pest control service will begin with a licensed technician providing a full inspection of your residence and property to identify the ant infestation. During the inspection, your ant control technician will identify potential problem areas around your home or office. After the source of your problem areas have been identified, your technician will point out other potential ant harborages and steps you can take to reduce future ant infestations. Your technician will create a customized ant treatment plan for year-round protection, using the most effective and environmentally-conscious ant control solutions.
Black Ant Treatments & Pest Control Service
We not only kill and control your current ants, but help prevent any future ant outbreaks. Proper preparation and prevention of ants is key in controlling an ant infestation, now and in the future. Most ant infestations originate outside, your technician will point out potential problem areas around the structure as well as any sanitation recommendations that could aid in gaining control. We focus on the perimeter of the home and outlying areas of the yard. Once interior control is reached then future services will only be needed to be done on the exterior. In addition to exterior ant treatments, we can also treat the interior of your home to stop ants from entering. Future service treatments will be exterior-only, without requiring you to be home or having to worry about scheduling conflicts. Please allow a week to 10 days for the treatment to be effective. Using baits requires help from the ants, meaning they bring the product back to the nest where it infects the colony and eventually the colony is wiped out. Griffin Pest Management offers Monthly, Bi-Monthly and one time ant services with no contract required.
Both the inside and outside of your home are always under warranty. We guarantee your satisfaction between regular scheduled maintenance services. If ants should show up between services please give us a call and our protection plan offers our customers peace of mind knowing they can call us given an unforeseen invasion.
Quick Facts About Argentine Ants
Black ants nest underground in massive colonies, sometimes numbering more than 100,000. These ants typically are found inside near sources of food or water during dry or exceptionally wet weather. They usually come into buildings through cracks around doors, windows, or through holes for wires. They will also crawl along overhead wires, shrubs, or tree limbs that touch the building far above the ground. These ants seek sources of food and water in times of drought or extreme heat and are very hard to control using over-the-counter ant control products due to colony size.
Argentine ants build their nests outdoors underground. They need a constant water source to survive.
Black ants ruin food supplies and will overrun a property if left untreated.
Argentine ants require a water source. Sealing all cracks and openings around kitchens and bathrooms will cut down on infestations. Keep tree branches and other plants cut back from the house. Sometimes ants use these branches to get into your home. Make sure that there are no cracks or little openings around the bottom of your house. Sometimes pests use these to get into your home. Make sure that firewood and building materials are not stored next to your home. Ants like to build nests in stacks of wood.
